Lo specchio a figura intera rimandava la sua figura elegantemente abbigliata. Non era mai stato così elegante in vita sua; nemmeno al primo tentativo lo erano stati, nessuno dei due.

Lanciò uno sguardo al suo compagno che stava finendo di abbottonarsi la camicia dal taglio perfetto. Gli anni su di lui non avevano lo stesso effetto che sugli altri. Il suo aspetto era ancora lo stesso di quella prima sera che aveva cambiato le loro vite, anni addietro.

Cercò di distogliere gli occhi e di sistemarsi la giacca, quando la voce di Brian lo ammonì che, continuando a quel modo, l'avrebbe tutta spiegazzata. Ma proprio non gli riusciva di restare fermo. Giocherellò coi polsini della camicia ed uno dei gemelli che li chiudevano si sganciò, cadendo a terra.

Il rumore gli costò uno sguardo di disapprovazione da parte di Brian, che gli si avvicinò chinandosi a raccogliere il gemello. Li aveva fatti fare Brian per l'occasione, con le iniziali l'uno dell'altro. Glieli aveva anche allacciati, perchè lui proprio non ci riusciva. Ed ora aveva anche paura di sganciarli e farli cadere durante la cerimonia, quando si agitava tendeva a giocare con i polsini di camicie e maglie.

E quel giorno ne aveva davvero di che essere agitato. Il giorno del proprio matrimonio non è certo un giorno qualunque, soprattutto per loro due. La prima volta che ci avevano provato non era stato il momento giusto - rivolse a Brian il suo sorriso più luminoso - ma ora ogni cosa era tornata dove doveva stare, dove apparteneva. Dove sarebbe sempre stata. Di nuovo al posto giusto. Come i suoi gemelli.

The mirror reflected the image of the elegant figure standing before it. Justin had never been dressed so elegantly in his life; not even during the first attempt, had he been dressed so. Neither him nor Brian had.

He threw a glance at his partner, who was finishing buttoning up his perfectly tailored shirt. The years had not had the same effect on him as it had on others. His appearance was still that of the first night they had met, the night their lives had changed forever.

Justin tried to avert his eyes and put on his jacket, but just then Brian’s voice warned him that if he continued dressing the way he was, he’d end up crumpling everything he had on. But even Brian's voice was not enough to make Justin calm down and pay attention to what he was doing.

As he was playing with the twin cuff links of his shirt, one of them unfastened and fell to the ground. The noise earned him a look of disapproval from Brian, who bent down to retrieve the cuff link. The cuff links had been made for Brian, with each others’ initials on either cuff link. Brian had fastened the cuff links on Justin because he was to nervous to do so himself.

Now Justin was anxious over the idea of the cuff links becoming unfastened and falling during the ceremony, since whenever he became agitated he tended to play with the cuffs of his shirts. And if he had any reason to be agitated, it was definitely during this day. The day one gets married isn’t a day like any other. Especially for them.

The first time they had gone through this it had not been the right moment – Justin beamed his luminous smile at Brian – but now everything was as it should be, where it belonged. Where it would always be. In just the right place. Like the twin cuffs links.
